About

Marc Roe is a lifelong Iowan, musician, and nonprofit leader whose journey has spanned factory floors, executive boardrooms, dive bars, and city council chambers. With an M.B.A. from the University of Phoenix and a background in accounting and public service, Marc currently serves as Executive Director of Greater Ottumwa Partners in Progress, where he champions economic development rooted in integrity and community connection.

Outside of his professional world, Marc is a nationally touring metal musician, a woodworker, and a storyteller who believes in calling things what they are—without pretense. His debut book, Through Hardship to Clarity, is an unflinching memoir-meets-manifesto that explores what it means to break cycles, lead with purpose, and become the kind of man your younger self needed.

Whether writing about childhood scars, leadership failures, or playing Slayer too loud in small-town Iowa, Marc brings honesty, grit, and a dry wit to every page. He lives in Ottumwa, where he continues to make noise—in business, in music, and in the hearts of those who’ve been told to stay quiet.
